Florence & Siena Trip
This four day Gallery Talks Part Three Trip to Florence and Siena will include detailed morning and afternoon tours of the treasure trove of art in the churches and museums of these wonderful cities, which still retain an astoundingly dense concentration of great works of art.
Visits included in the itinerary are to the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Davanzati, Orsanmichele, the Churches of San Miniato al Monte, the Ognissanti and Santa Trinita and the Siena Duomo & Museum and Palazzo Pubblico.
Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, is where the foundations for 500 years of Western art were laid and a succession of great artists were nurtured; Giotto, Brunelleschi, Donatello, Masaccio, Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael. Siena retains the monuments of its medieval golden age when artists such as Duccio, Lorenzetti, Martini and Pisano embellished its spectacular Gothic state and church buildings. Whilst discovering the beauty and history of the art and appreciating the craftsmanship of the architects, sculptors and painters who created these inspirational cities, we will also soak up the vibrant Tuscan atmosphere and sample the delights of Italian cuisine.
